The exhibition “Insanely Funny – Follement Drôle » is a collaboration between the Prinzhorn Collection and the Museé d'Art et d'Histoire de l'Hôpital Sainte-Anne (MAHHSA) in Paris, where it was on view from October 29 to June 13, 2021. This first joint project focuses on the theme of humor in psychiatric institutions, and shows what subjects the patients in psychiatric hospitals in France and Germany made fun of between 1880 and 1990. The exhibition and bilingual catalogue are divided into the categories of caricature, the grotesque, the comical-foolish, the bawdy-obscene, social criticism, criticism of psychiatry, and animal satire.
